About a third of California residents live in areas where there is a shortage of primary care doctors. This shortage disproportionately affects rural areas, with some having only 40 primary care providers per 100,000 people. Luckily, California recently passed a law that provides nurse practitioners with a path to independent practice to help lessen the effects of this shortage and give these professionals exciting professional opportunities in the state.

AUHS is a “Christian-based, minority-serving university” specializing in educating students for careers in healthcare, specifically nursing, pharmacy, and research.
